I was recently asked to do a boudoir photo shoot at the beach. Traditionally I do most of my shoots in my studio in NELA in a more intimate setting. The word ‘boudoir’ is French for ‘bedroom’ and usually involves lingerie and bedsheets. However I happen to love the beach and posing and angles are similar and I was totally game!
To shoot on location is a whole different ball game than in a controlled studio atmosphere. There is wind, water, sand, sun, clouds and people to consider. I had to take a lot more shots to get the best photos, but I was very pleased with the outcome.
The golden hour right before sunset is the perfect time to get the most beautiful and flattering photos. The lady in this image is 49 years young and she looks amazing to begin with, but the golden sunlight gave her a little touch of extra magic.

In boudoir photography it is not all about showing everything. Yes it is sensual, sexy and provocative, yes it is often nude or implied nude, but it is not pornographic or sleazy.
Often times I have to reposition legs, hands or bodies to make them look more classy and tasteful, rather than spread legs and expose breasts. It is all about the story and mood in the picture and the photographer controls the tone of which the photo expresses.
The majority of my clients are wives, professionals and mothers who never had a professional photoshoot done before and rarely show their sensual side to anyone, but their spouse. It is very important to me to protect the ladies’ integrity, but at the same time allow them to be vulnerable and emotional.
The best photos happen when my clients trust me in my judgement and artistic eye to showcast them in images they will love forever. If you are curious about a boudoir photoshoot contact me here.
Often women put other people’s needs before their own, their spouse’s, their children’s, their household’s and their work place’s. To get pampered, to get undivided attention, to be the star in the room may seem foreign, but it feels absolutely invigorating.
After most boudoir photoshoots women will tell me how empowered and uplifted they feel. During their shoot they are allowed to show their sensual vulnerable side, gently guided by professionals without having to be in charge.
The reveal of the finished images always brings smiles and sometimes even tears of joy to a woman’s face. Do you know that most women are unaware how beautiful they are until they actually see themselves in a boudoir photo?
At fiftyfour years old this lady thought she couldn’t pull off showing herself in lingerie. I’d say she totally rocked it!
When she saw the images she couldn’t believe how beautiful and elegant she looked. She is a beautiful women inside and out, before and after the makeover. What do you think?
When I met this young lady recently for a boudoir photoshoot I was delighted to dicover the strong confidence in her own body. She was very comfortable with it and I loved that she didn’t want me to avoid any parts of her when photographing her.
Often women tell me they want me to cover or edit their stomach or thighs, because they think they are too fat, too skinny or plain ugly. I really understand that first hand, because the media and society in general has a certain beauty standard and for the most part we want to fit in.
This beautiful young woman in contrast was very relaxed about her image and trusted me to show her from any angle. It was a very refreshing and endearing experience and I am delighted with the result. To be comfortable within one’s on skin exudes as confidence and that is absolutely sexy!
